Giving thanks on Thanksgiving
November 25th, 2005 · Leave a Comment
We spent the Thanksgiving holiday at Dad and Gretchen’s place in Roseville, and I had much for which to be thankful. I was thankful that I got to play 9 holes of golf with the boys for about 3 hours even though Lisa threatens that next year she and the girls will

On Desires to See the Snow and Remain Hairy
November 18th, 2005 · Leave a Comment
I’ve been having a gargantuan desire to see the snow. Lisa and the kids and I haven’t been up to the cabin when there was any significant amount of white on the ground since May of last year. And that was more of a grayish brown by that late in the season. I get this same feeling every year during the fall and start of winter. But why?

Busting the Myth

I do my best not to watch too much television, but I do have my favorites that I try not to miss. Included among them are this season’s My Name Is Earl and The Office in the comedy department, and of course

Nothing’s Ever Easy…Or…Why I’m Angry: Reason #235
November 14th, 2005 · 2 Comments
Nothing’s ever easy! It’s become my mantra over the last few years. Ask Lisa. She’ll tell you. Ask bro-in law Mike. It became the mantra of both of us as we were building the cabin a few years ago. It all stems from the daily knee-deep crap that one must wade through to get things done.
A Rite of Passage: Losing a Tooth
November 14th, 2005 · 1 Comment
It wasn’t Emily‘s first tooth she lost tonight. (If I’m not mistaken, it was her 4th. Okay, maybe 5th, and I haven’t been there for any of them. Fine, I’m a bad father.) But it was the first tooth I was there to witness coming out. It was one of her top incisors, and for her it was a rite of passage of sorts.
Guy’s Camp Trip 2005
September 13th, 2005 · Leave a Comment
Steve joined Mike Wassermann and Larry Zinky for the guys’ camp trip–a weekend trip to Loon Lake with no wives and no kids. “We just enjoy getting together with the guys,” said Larry. “It’s not that we have anything against our kids or wives.”
After a weekend of relaxation and fantastic camp-cooked meals, the guys think the trip will be remembered for the long drive on the first day.
Our plans to camp at Loon were quickly changed when the forest service employee told us that

Joke’s on Matt at McClelland Reunion
September 10th, 2005 · Leave a Comment
Here’s cousin Matt getting set up by Emily at the McClelland reunion. He’s not too happy at the end of this, but he was a great sport. This is the first of the McClelland family reunion videos that we’ll post (simply because it was the funniest.)

Emily wants to goof off with the video camera? Fine. Here’s what we got one afternoon at Mike and Jody’s and a few late nights later. This one’s 9MB, so have patience while it loads.

Tempting Fate
If I had the chance to do it all again I’d have to think,
‘cause life is like a recipe for a side dish or a drink,
and making just one minor change in earnest or in haste,
could wreck the meal you’re making and end up in a waste.
But…
if I had the chance to to it all again I wouldn’t wait,
I’d be the one to venture forth and ask YOU for a date,
but maybe this time when I lie upon that couch and
