Like suddenly running into a long-lost friend, I was overwhelmed with a flood of good feelings yesterday when I was able to open a disk of previously-stubborn jpg’s. For the first time since the McClelland family [Read more →]

Go Elf Yourself 2007

Office Max understands viral marketing. Less-so this year since they’ve dropped about nine-tenths of their holiday marketing site. Nonetheless, neighbor Staci pointed out this deliciously fun site last year (unfortunately we only have a screen-grab to show for it) and we loved creating our own elfs…ahem…elves. We only wish they would [Read more →]

Patrick Checks In (First-Grade is Fun)

I’m in first grade now. My teacher is very nice. She has yellow hair and bright skin. (Click the picture here to see a larger picture with her in it.) Today she gave me Otter Pops and I like them. When I first come into the classroom, I hang up my back back and then I do a lunch bug. That’s like a little white board that has bugs on with the kids names on it that we move to what kind of lunch we want; hot lunch or cold lunch. [Read more →]

This is top-Secret Video of Patrick showing us his latest dance moves. At age 5, he can really bust a move. We tried to sneak up on him, but he didn’t really start the moves until the camera was locked and loaded. We could have walked right up and [Read more →]

Trick-or-Treating for the First Time

Haunted House construction begins in August at the latest. There are ghouls to round up, the dead to wake. Rotting corpses can’t just decay in a week. So with other projects on the front burner this year, we decided there was little time left to dedicate to the craft. On the positive side? I got to go [Read more →]

Three Reasons I’m Going to Hell

And all three were in the last two weeks… Before we get to my costume pictured here, I should talk about the quasi-immoral things I’ve done with dolls in our haunted houses over the years. They’ve been mutilated, spray-painted, [Read more →]

Things We Don’t Want Patrick to Forget

At age 5, Patrick’s in his inquisitive phase. He expresses his curiosity with multi-part what-if questions that just seem to come out of thin air: What if there’s a cookie that you really like and there’s chocolate inside and you don’t even see it? What if your face was really big and you had three eyes and all of them were on the side of your head?

While digging through my filing cabinet recently I came upon a long-lost treasure; a hard copy of the Lisionary. While Lisa and I were still dating I felt the need to preserve all of Lisa’s unique pronunciations of the English language. I would also include her [Read more →]

The phone conversation that I had on the drive home from work today began with a 30 second pre-recorded message which repeated for about 2 minutes. Then went something like this…
Operator: “9-1-1, what’s your emergency?”
Me: “I just observed a vehicle nearly cause 3 accidents in the span of about a minute.”
Operator: “Really? What’s he doing?”

Everyone’s a Poet…But Can They Paint?

Les shows off his new painting of the newish cabin. He painted a similar portrait of the old cabin in the 70’s. (Click on the photo to see the large version.) His medium? Acrylic on canvas. His asking price for a custom portrait? If you have to ask…
